WinnipegREALTORS® Gimme Shelter Event

Since 2010, the MREA Shelter Foundation has been the fortunate recipient of significant funds due to an initiative created by the REALTOR® members of the WinnipegREALTORS® Association.

Susan Belanger of Century 21 Bachman & Associates, along with Sheldon Zamick, Winn Adair and several other dedicated REALTORS®, felt there was enough musical talent among the REALTOR® community to organize an evening of music performed by REALTORS®. The idea of fun, and fundraising, all in support of the MREA Shelter Foundation seemed obvious. Susan Belanger, who is married to a professional musician, was able to draw upon his knowledge for the inaugural event. 

That first event, held in 2010 at Canad Inns Polo Park Tijuana Yacht Club, raised over $26,000 for the foundation. Hundreds of REALTORS®, friends and associates came out to dance the night away to some unbelievable REALTOR® talent.

The fundraiser became an annual event, and has raised a total of $282,697 to date. The funds raised by REALTORS® through this WinnipegREALTORS® initiative are a significant source of revenue each year for the MREA Shelter Foundation.

The foundation was able to provide 11 grants in 2016 totalling over $42,000, due in large part to the generous members of the WinnipegREALTORS® community, and from REALTORS® throughout Manitoba, and even out-of-province.

The MREA Shelter Foundation sincerely thanks WinnipegREALTORS® for organizing this event, and in so doing, helping countless fellow citizens in Manitoba needing shelter and safety.
